I urge you to pass Local Law E of 2024 as soon as possible. Tenants across Albany have been facing the consequences of losing our local Good Cause law– including $400+ rent increases and community displacement. 
 
Additionally, I implore you to define “small landlord” in this bill as owning 1 unit. If this number is higher, it will make it harder to enforce Good Cause as many landlords hold multiple LLCs- some even have one per building. I also urge that the high rent exemption is capped at 345% Fair Market Rent to ensure this protects as many tenants as possible. 
 
I know you understand the importance and urgency of this legislation. Albany tenants cannot continue to wait. Please champion this bill like you did for our original local law, and bring these much needed protections to your tenant constituents who need them!
